First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make chains, tutorial here!

To start this stitch, if you are at the beginning of a row you will make 2 chains for the double crochet stitch. Then you'll yarn over your hook, insert your hook into the next stitch or space you want to work. (Shown Above)
You'll then grab the yarn behind this stitch and pull it through. (Shown Above) Then yarn over your hook again and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook.
You'll then yarn over your hook again and pull the yarn through the last 2 loops on your hook
This is what the Double Crochet Stitch should look like when completed!
