Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on my free crochet pattern: Solid Hexagon Motif!

First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning how to make this hexagon.

There are several ways to start this motif. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!

For this pattern you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Stitch (SL ST), I have a tutorial here! And how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!

Row 1: I will be using the Chain (CH) 4 method for my example hexagon motif. Make 4 CHs with your hook. You'll be working into the 1st CH you made. 3 of those CHs count as 1 DC.

Make 1 DC into that same 1st CH made of CH 4. Then CH 2 (Shown Below)

You would then work 2 more DC into that same space.

You would repeat this 4 more times: 2 DC, CH 2, around until you have 6 sections. SL ST into first CHs made in this row

Row 2: Staying with the same color, CH 3, counts as 1 DC. All CH 3 throughout this pattern count as 1 DC.

Work 1 DC into the next ST (Shown Above)

Work 1 DC into first next open space (Shown Above)

CH 2

Work 1 DC into that same open space

Then work 1 DC into the next 2 STs. You would repeat this around. 1 DC in each previous DC ST you come across. Then 1 DC, CH 2, 1 DC in any open space for this row.

This is the completed 2nd row (Shown Above)

Row 3: Start @ a open corner space, attach new color, CH 5. This CH 5 counts as 1 DC + CH 2.

You would then work 1 DC into that same open space (Same as you did with row 2)

When you reach a side with DC STs, you work 1 DC in each previous DC ST (Shown Above)

Then you would work 1 DC, CH 2, 1 DC when you reach the next open corner space (Shown Above)

You would then repeat this pattern to finish the row and for any future rows. 1 DC in any previous DCs on the sides, 1 DC, CH 2, 1 DC in any open corner spaces you come to.

This is what the Solid Hexagon Motif should look like when completed!
