First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH)! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Triple Crochet Stitch (TR), tutorial here!
Starting at the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: 1 DC into 3rd CH from your hook
1 DC into the next CH
*1 TR into each of the next 2 CHs
1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs
1 SC into each of the next 2 CHs
1 DC into each of the next 2 CHs
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
This is what row 1 will look like
We will be using this sequence of stitches in row 2
Row 2: Make 1 CH
1 DC into 1st ST
1 DC into next ST
1 TR into each of the next 2 STs
*1 DC into each of the next 2 STs
1 SC into each of the next 2 STs
1 DC into each of the next 2 STs
1 TR into each of the next 2 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
Repeat row 2 for however long you want your project
