Photo Tutorial - How To Crochet: The Latch Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Latch Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here!

You'll start this stitch with any number of chains. Then make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook, then make 1 SC into each CH across for your first row

To start your Latch ST row: Make 1 CH

1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into the 1st ST

*1 SC into the next ST

Repeat what you did in the 1st ST of this row: 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into the next ST

You'll repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row

You should start and end with the same STs in the first and last ST of the row

Ch 1 and turn your work

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

Since you ended on a SC CH 2 SC cluster, you will make 1 SC into the space made from those chains

Make the 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC into the next ST

This previous ST was a single SC

Repeat these steps until you reach the end of your row, alternating between the 1 SC and the SC CH 2 SC clusters

You should start and end with the same STs in the first and last ST of the row

You will alternate between these 2 rows for however long you want your project. Each single SC will be worked into a previous cluster and each cluster will be worked into a previous single SC
