Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Modified Slit Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! You should also be familiar with the Blanket Stitch, tutorial here!
The only difference between the regular Slit Stitch and Modified Slit Stitch is the DC Stitch row is done in the Back Loops (BLO), tutorial here!
The Modified Slit Stitch is made from 2 rows alternating. One row of all Double Crochet in the back loops or a foundation row then a Slit Stitch row
To start with making Chains, make any # of chains
Then work 1 DC into the 4th CH, then work 1 DC into each CH across for your first row
To start your Slit Stitch row:
Make 2 CH
Work 1 SC into the 1st ST
Work 1 DC into that same ST with the SC you just made
Work 1 more DC into that same ST
You should have 1 SC and 2 DC in that first ST so far
*Skip 2 STs, then work 1 SC + 2 DC into the next ST
Repeat the above step until you reach the end of your row
Then in the last ST of your row work 1 SC
For your DC in the Back Loops row worked on top of the Slit Stitches, Make 3 CHs
Then you'll simply work 1 DC into each stitch across, in the Back Loops only
This is what the Modified Slit Stitch should look like when completed!
