Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Side Saddle Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Cluster St, tutorial here!

Make CHs in the multiple of 5 + 1

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Make 1 CH

(If you're working this row into CHs skip this step)

Skip 1 ST, work 1 SC into 2nd ST

(If working into CHs, make this SC into the 2nd CH from your hook)

Make 3 CHs

*To make your 1st Cluster: Yarn over 1 time

(If you're working into CHs you'll be working this cluster over the next 3 CHs)

Insert your hook into previous CH 3 space, pull up a loop

(If you're working into CHs insert your hook into the next CH)

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

(1 DC bottom made)

Yarn over 1 time

Insert your hook into same previous CH 3 space, pull up a loop

(If you're working into CHs insert your hook into the next CH)

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

(2nd DC bottom made)

Yarn over 1 time

Insert your hook into same previous CH 3 space, pull up a loop

(If you're working into CHs insert your hook into the next CH)

Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

(3rd DC bottom made)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into same previous CH 3 space, pull up a loop

(If you're working into CHs insert your hook into the next CH)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

(4th DC bottom made)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through all the loops (5) on your hook

1 full Cluster ST made

Make 1 CH to secure the Cluster ST

*Skip 1 ST, make 1 SC into next ST

(If you're working into CHs you'll work this SC into the next CH after the Cluster you just made)

Make 3 CHs

Make 1 Cluster into next previous CH 3 space

Repeat Cluster steps above

(If you're working into CHs you'll work this Cluster over the next 4 CHs)

Make 1 CH to secure the Cluster ST

Repeat steps above from * until you reach the end of your row

1 DC into last ST/CH of row

You would repeat this row for any future rows made

This is what the Side Saddle Stitch should look like when completed!
