Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Waffle Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Front Post Double Crochet Stitch (FPDC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make CHs in the multiple of 3 + 2
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Make 1 DC into 4th CH from hook, then 1 DC into each CH across for your first row
To start your 1st Waffle row: CH 3
Skip 1st ST connected with CH 3, make 1 DC into next ST
2 FPDC over the next 2 STs
1 regular DC into the next ST
*2 FPDC over the next 2 STs
1 regular DC into the next ST
Repeat from * until you reach the last ST of the row
1 DC into last ST
1 DC into previous CHs
Next Waffle row: CH 3
1 FPDC over 1st previous DC
2 regular DC into next 2 STs
1 FPDC over previous regular DC
*2 regular DC into next 2 STs
1 FPDC over previous regular DC
Repeat from * until you reach the last ST of the row
1 DC into last ST
Alternate between these 2 rows for however long you want your project
