First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH)! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here!
Starting at the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 3 + 6
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: 1 SC into 6th CH from your hook
Skip 1 CH, 1 SC into the next CH
Make 3 CHs
1 SC into the next CH
*1 SC into the next CH
Make 3 CHs
1 SC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 3 CHs left in your row
Skip 1 CH, 1 SC into the next CH
Make 1 HDC into the last CH of your row
Row 2: Make 4 CHs
Make 1 SC into previous CH 3 space
Into next open space: Make 1 SC + CH 3 + 1 SC
*Into next open space: Make 1 SC + CH 3 + 1 SC
Repeat the step above from * until you have 1 open space left in your row
Into last open space, make 1 SC
Make 2 CHs
Make 1 HDC into the same open space
Repeat row 2 for however long you want your project
