Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Open Heart Granny Square pattern is so easy and cute!

Just 1 crochet stitch to learn

This square would be amazing for so many different projects!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:

 

Materials:

Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example square

Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example square – 5.5 MM

Scissors

Stitch Markers


Notes:

I Fasten Off each row to change colors:

Crochet Stitches Needed:

Chain – CH

Stitch – ST

Skip – SK


Double Crochet Stitch (DC):

Pattern: 

Make an even number of chains, I made 30 chains for my example square


You’ll want an even amount of stitches on each side of the heart


ALL DC ROWS:

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, then make 1 DC into each ST across


Row 2: CH 2, SK 1st ST, then make 1 DC into each ST across


HEART ROWS:

Row 3: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 13 DC made, CH 1, SK 1 ST, then make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 13 DC made (You’ll have 1 open space)


Row 4: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 11 DC made, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 3 then make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 11 DC made (You’ll have 3 open spaces)


Row 5: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 9 DC made, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 5 then make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 9 DC made (You’ll have 5 open spaces)


Row 6: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 7 DC made, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 7 then make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 7 DC made (You’ll have 7 open spaces)


Row 7: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 9 then make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made (You’ll have 9 open spaces)


Row 8-10: Repeat Row 7


Row 11: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 4, 1 DC into next ST, 1 DC into next CH space, 1 DC into next ST, (CH 1, SK 1 ST, 1 DC) X 4, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made (You’ll have 8 open spaces)


Row 12: CH 2, SK 1st ST, SK 1st ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made, 1 DC into next CH space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 1, SK open space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 1, SK open space, 1 DC into next ST, 1 DC into next CH space, 1 DC into next ST X 3, 1 DC into next open space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 1, SK open space, 1 DC into next ST, CH 1, SK open space, 1 DC into next ST, make 1 DC into each ST, until you have 5 DC made (You’ll have 4 open spaces)

 

ALL DC ROWS:

Row 13: CH 2, SK 1st ST, 1 DC into each ST and open space across


Row 14: CH 2, SK 1st ST, 1 DC into each ST across
