Photo Tutorial – Crochet Pattern: First Crush Slouchy Hat!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my First Crush Slouchy Hat!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this hat!

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops, tutorial here!

We are going to make our hat from the bottom up, tutorial here!

Band:

Row 1: Make 8 CHs

Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook, then make 1 SC into each CH across

Row 2: Make 1 CH

Work 1 SC into each ST only in the Back Loops

Repeat Row 2 for however wide you want your band, leave a longer yarn tail to join the ends of your band together

I made 54 rows for my example band

Body: Row 1: Attach your yarn to any stitch, make 1 CH, then make (1 SC, 1 HDC, 1 DC) into the 1st ST

*Skip 1 ST, make 1 SC into the next ST

Skip 1 ST, make (1 SC + 1 HDC + 1 DC) into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * around 

Once you reach the 1st CH you made in this row, SL ST into that CH to complete this row

Row 2: Attach your yarn to any previous SC stitch, make 1 CH, then make (1 HDC, 1 DC) into that ST

*Skip 1 ST, make 1 SC into the next ST

Skip 1 ST, make (1 SC + 1 HDC + 1 DC) into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * around

SL ST into the 1st CH you made in this row to complete

 

You would now repeat Row 3 for however long you want the body of your hat

 

You would now Seam Up your hat with that long yarn tail, tutorial here!
After Seaming Up, you can leave your hat as is or add a pom pom on top

This is what how my First Crush Slouchy Hat should look like when completed!
