First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 2

Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook
Then make 1 SC into each CH across for the rest of this row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
Make 1 SL ST in the 1st ST, make 1 SL ST into the next ST
*Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Make 1 SL ST into each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left
Make 1 SL ST into each of the last 2 STs to complete this row
Row 3: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into the 1st ST, make 1 DC into the next ST
Make 1 HDC into the next ST
*Make 1 SC into each of the next 3 STs
Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Skip 1 ST, make 1 DC into the next ST 1 row down
Make 1 DC into the ST/CH 2 rows down
Make 1 DC into the same ST as the 1st made, 1 row down
Skip 1 ST, make 1 HDC into the next ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left
Make 1 DC into each of the last 2 STs to complete this row
Row 4: Make 1 CH
Make 1 SC into each ST across to complete this row
Row 5: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into the 1st ST, make 1 DC into the next ST
*Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Make 1 SL ST into each of the next 3 STs
Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left
Make 1 DC into each of the last 2 STs to complete this row
Row 6: Make 1 CH
Make 1 SC into the 1st ST, make 1 SC into the next ST
*Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Skip 1 ST, make 1 DC into the next ST 1 row down
Make 1 DC into the ST 2 rows down
Make 1 DC into the same ST as the 1st made, 1 row down
Skip 1 ST, make 1 HDC into the next ST
Make 1 SC into each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left
Make 1 SC into each of the last 2 STs to complete this row
Row 7: Make 1 SC
Then make 1 SC into each ST across to complete this row
You would now repeat Rows 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 in order for however long you want your project
