Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Clawfoot Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch, tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Decrease, tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook

Then make 1 SC into each CH across to complete this row

Row 2: Make 4 CHs,

Skip the 1st ST

We'll start the 1st Clawfoot Stitch:

*Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 look

You'll have 3 loops on your hook

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 look

You'll have 5 loops on your hook

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through that ST, pulling up 1 look

You'll have 7 loops on your hook

So you have pulling up loops in 3 STs

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through 6 loops only

You'll have 2 loops left on your hook

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through those last 2 loops to complete this Clawfoot Stitch

Then make 1 CH to keep that ST together

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 2 STs left

Skip 1 ST, then make 1 DC into the last ST to complete this row

Row 3: Make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

*Make 2 SC into the next CH space

Make 1 SC into the next previous ST

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have some CHs left

Make 1 SC into the space between the last ST and the last CHs

Then make 1 SC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row

You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project

This is what the Clawfoot Stitch should look like when completed!
