First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains

Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 2nd CH from your hook

Then make 1 HDC into each CH across

Row 2: CH 1

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

Then make 1 SC into each ST across

CH 3: Make 2 CHs

Make 1 HDC DEC across 2 STs

Yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all of the loops on your hook to complete

*Make 1 HDC DEC into last ST and next ST

Yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the last ST, grab that yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all of the loops on your hook to complete
