Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Rigid Braid Stitch!

 Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Rigid Braid Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to work in the Front Loops (FLO), tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops (BLO), tutorial here!

 

Starting from the beginning, make any number of chains

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

 

Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook

Then make 1 SC into each CH across to complete this row

Row 2: Make 1 CH

You'll be making 1 SL ST into each ST, but only using the Front Loop of each ST. So turn your work where you are looking at the top of your stitches. The loop closest to you on each ST is the Front Loop

So then you'll make 1 SL ST into each ST using only Front Loops across

Row 3: Make 1 CH

You'll be making 1 SC into each ST, but only using the Back Loop of each ST. So turn your work where you are looking at the top of your stitches. The loop on the back of each ST is the Back Loop

So then you'll make 1 SC into each ST using only Back Loops across

 

 

 

You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 in order for however long you want your project
