Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Single Compress Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

Starting from the beginning, make any number of chains

Row 1: 1 SC DEC into 3rd & 4th CH

Insert your hook into the 3rd CH, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, insert your hook the 4th CH, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all the loops on your hook to complete

*Make 1 CH

Make a SC DEC over the next 2 CHs

Insert your hook into the next CH, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, insert your hook the next CH, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all the loops on your hook to complete

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 CH left

Make 1 regular SC into the last CH to complete this row

Row 2: Make 1 CH

*Make a SC DEC over the next 2 STs

Insert your hook into the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, insert your hook the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over your hook 1 time, take that yarn through all the loops on your hook to complete
