First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 4 + 2
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: (SC, CH 2, SC) into the 2nd CH from your hook
*Skip 1 CH, make 1 SC into the next CH
Skip 1 CH, (SC, CH 2, SC) into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
*Skip to previous CH 2 space, make 1 SC into that space
Skip to next previous SC by itself, make (SC, CH 2, SC) into that ST
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 3: Make 1 CH
*Into next previous SC by itself, make (SC, CH 2, SC) into that ST
Skip to previous CH 2 space, make 1 SC into that space
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the SC Group Stitch should look like when completed!
