Photo Tutorial - Crochet Pattern: Retro Paradise Afghan!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Retro Paradise Afghan!

First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH)! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

I'm using the Chain 4 starting method for my tutorial!

Row 1: Make 4 CHs

Make 2 DC into the 4th chain, farthest chain from your hook

*Make 2 CHs (1st corner)

Make 3 DC into that same CH space as before

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 3 DC for each of the 4 sides and 4 CH 2 corner spaces

SL ST into the 1st DC you made in this row

Row 2: Starting at a corner space, attach your new color and make 3 CHs

Make 1 DC into that same corner space

*Make 1 DC into each of the side STs

Make 2 DC + CH 2 + 2 DC into the next corner space

Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the beginning of your row, SL ST into the 1st DC you made in this row

Repeat row 2 for however big you want your squares

Notes:

I made 4 rows for each square of my example blanket

I made 10 squares for each row, so in total I made 100 squares for my example blanket

This blanket came out to be a throw size afghan

* Make as many squares as you want for the size of blanket you want

* Then chose a joining method and join the squares together

I used the Slip Stitch Back Loop Join for my example blanket, tutorial here!

 

This is what your Retro Paradise Afghan should look like when completed!
