Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on my free crochet pattern: Spiral Granny Square!
First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning how to make this square.
There are several ways to start this motif. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!
I will be using the Chain 4 Method for my tutorial
For this pattern you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Stitch (SL ST), I have a tutorial here! And how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!
Make 4 Chains
Work 12 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, the CH farthest away. Then SL ST into the first CHs you made to complete the circle
Make 3 CHs
Work 1 DC in first ST
Work 1 DC in next ST
Work 5 DC into the next ST
Work 1 DC in the next 2 STs
Work 5 DC in next ST
Work 1 DC into the next 3 STs
Work 1 DC into the next ST
Work 5 DC into the first CH 3 made at the beginning of the row
You would continue this 1 DC in each ST until you reach the corner, then work 5 DC around until you reach your desired length
The corner ST is going to be the 3rd DC in that 5 DC cluster
To finish off your SQ you would work 1 DC into that 3rd DC of the 5 DC cluster
This is what the Spiral Granny Square should look like when completed!
