Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to crochet a Flat Circle!
First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this tutorial.
There are several ways to start a circle. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make a Slip Stitch (SL ST), I have a tutorial here! And how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!
I will be using the Chain (CH) 4 method for my example circle. Make 4 CHs with your hook. You'll be working into the 1st CH you made.
The first 3 CHs of that original CH 4 will count as i DC. Start working 10 DC into that first CH, then SL ST into the first CH 3/DC in this row. Row 1 completed. (Shown Above)
For your 2nd row, CH 3, this counts as 1 DC. Then work 1 DC into the ST right underneath that CH 3 just made
Then work 2 DC into the next ST
Work 2 DC in each ST around, repeating this until the end of this row, SL ST into the first CH 3/DC in this row. (Shown Above)
For your 3rd row, CH 3, this counts as 1 DC. Then work 2 DC in the next ST,
Work 1 DC in the next ST
Then work 2 in the next ST. You would repeat this: 1 DC in the next ST, 2 DC in the next ST, around until the end of the row. SL ST into the first CH 3/DC in this row.
This is where the pattern would start to repeat. In the 3rd row we did:
1 DC, 2 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC, ect.
Well for any future rows you would do that same pattern with the corresponding numbers. The corresponding numbers are relating to how make 1 DC will be made between stitches with 2 DC.
So this next row, your 4th row would be:
1 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC, etc.
Your 5th row would be:
1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 2 DC, etc.
You would go up by 1 more DC between the 2 DC for each future row.
This is what a Flat Circle should look like when completed!
