Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Back Post Half Double Crochet Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Stitches (HDC), I have a tutorial here!
To begin, start with a yarn over, like you would start a regular HDC ST, then insert your hook through the back of your work. In the open area next to the next stitch you would normally work into. (Shown Above)
Then insert your hook around the front of that same stitch, into the open area on the other side. You hook will stick out towards the back of your work again. (Shown Above)
Grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through and back around the post of that same stitch. Pull that yarn up behind your work (Shown Above)
This is where you would continue the stitch like a regular Half Double Crochet Stitch. Yarn over your hook and bring that yarn through all loops on your hook.
This is what the back of your work would look like. For my example swatch I made regular Half Double Crochet Stitches between the Back Post Half Double Crochets to show the difference.
This is what the front of your work would look like. This is what the Back Post Half Double Crochet Stitch should look like when completed!
