Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Compact Vertical Posts Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! How to make the Front Post Half Double Crochet Stitch, tutorial here! And how to make the Back Post Half Double Crochet Stitch, tutorial here!
To begin, make an even number of CHs
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 3rd CH from your hook
Make 1 HDC into each CH across for Row 1
Row 2: Make 2 CHs
1 HDC into 1st ST
1 BP HDC into next ST
*1 regular HDC into next ST
1 BP HDC into next ST
Repeat the steps above from *, at the end of your row make 1 regular HDC into the last ST to complete Row 2
Row 3: Make 2 CHs
1 HDC into 1st ST
1 FP HDC into next ST
*1 regular HDC into next ST
1 FP HDC into next ST
Repeat the steps above from *, at the end of your row make 1 regular HDC into the last ST to complete Row 3
Alternate between rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
