Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the C2C Granny Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Triple Crochet Stitch (TR), tutorial here!
There are 2 parts to this stitch. Increasing and Decreasing. I will show both parts.
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
We will start with the Increasing part:
Make 4 chains
Make 3 DC into 4th CH from your hook ( CH farthest away)
Make 1 TR into same CH
So far you have 3 CHs from the beginning 4 made, 3 DC and 1 TR
New increase row: Make 3 CHs, then turn your work
Make 3 DC in space between previous TR and previous 3 DC
Skip over previous 3 DC, Make 3 DC in space between previous beginning CHs and previous 3 DC just skipped
1 TR into same space as 3 DC just made
New increase row: Make 3 CHs, then turn your work
Make 3 DC in space between previous TR and previous 3 DC
Skip over previous 3 DC, 3 DC into next open space
Skip over previous 3 DC, Make 3 DC in space between previous TR and previous 3 DC just skipped
1 TR into same space as 3 DC just made
You would repeat this row for any new increase row
Starting Decreasing part:
CH 4, turn your work
Skip previous space you were working into and skip the previous 3 DC, make 3 DC into 1st open space
Work 3 DC into each open space across until you reach the end of your row
Skip over last previous 3 DC, make 1 TR into top of previous TR in last row
You would repeat this row for any decrease row
Here is my square when I reached my last decrease row
To finish your SQ: CH 1, turn your work
Make 1 SC into middle DC of previous 3 DC
SL ST into last corner space
Make 1 CH, turn your work
SL ST into previous SC made
This finish sets your yarn end in the same spot as your beginning yarn end
