Photo Tutorial - How To Crochet: Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos for the Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! Be familiar with the regular Cluster Stitch, tutorial here!

Starting at the beginning, make an even number of chains

 

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 2nd CH from your hook

Make 1 CH, Skip 1 CH

Make 1 HDC into the next CH

*Make 1 CH, Skip 1 CH

Make 1 HDC into the next CH

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of row 1

Row 2: Make 2 CHs

Make 1 regular HDC into the 1st ST

*Starting our 1st HDC Cluster, yarn over 1 time

Insert your hook into the 1st previous CH 1 space from our last row, grab that yarn we're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop on your hook

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook into the next previous HDC from row 1, grab that yarn we're working with and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop on your hook

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through all 5 loops on your hook

That's 1 HDC Cluster Stitch made

Then make 1 CH to secure that HDC Cluster Stitch

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 ST left in your row

Make 1 regular HDC into that last ST for row 2

Row 3: Make 2 CHs

Make 1 regular HDC into the 1st ST

*Make 1 CH, Skip 1 ST

Make 1 regular HDC into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of your row

Alternate between rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project

This is what the Half Double Crochet Cluster Stitch should look like when completed!
