Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Corner To Corner Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!
There are 2 parts to this stitch. Increasing and Decreasing. I will show both parts.
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
We will start with the Increasing part
Make 6 chains
Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook, you'll have 2 CHs left
Work 1 DC into the last 2 CHs
So far you have a CH 3 on the right side of your work and 3 DC made
Chain 6 again
Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook again, you'll have 2 CHs left again
Work 1 DC into the last 2 CHs again
Both blocks made should have a CH 3 on the right side of your work and 3 DC made
Twist or turn that bottom block so the CH 3 side faces away from you or towards the left
SL ST into the CH 3 part of the block you just twisted/turned
CH 3
Work 3 DC into the CH 3 space of the block you had twisted/turned
This would be your 1st Row done
Row 2 is another Increase Row
CH 6
Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook again, you'll have 2 CHs left again
Work 1 DC into the last 2 CHs again
Twist or turn that bottom of your work so the CH 3 sides of the previous blocks are facing away from you or towards the left
SL ST into the CH 3 part of the last block you made
Make 3 CHs + 3 DC into the CH 3 space of the block you just SL ST'd into
SL ST into CH 3 space of the block next to the one you just worked
Make 3 CHs + 3 DC into the CH 3 space of the block you just SL ST'd into
You would then repeat this Row for any future rows you make
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Now We will start with the Decreasing part
CH 3
Twist or turn that bottom of your work so the CH 3 sides of the previous blocks are facing away from you or towards the left
SL ST into the CH 3 space of the block you just made
Work your 3 CHs + 3 DCs in each block until you reach the end of your row (Shown Above)
This would be your 1st Row done
Row 2 is another Decrease Row
You would repeat this decrease row until you reach the last row of your project (you'll see how it makes the other side of a square)
CH 3
Twist or turn that bottom of your work so the CH 3 sides of the previous blocks are facing away from you or towards the left
SL ST into the CH 3 space of the block you just made
Work your 3 CHs + 3 DCs in each block until you reach the end of your row (Shown Above)
When you get to the end of your work/project you'll want all of your blocks to match.
So to finish off you'll make 3 CHs
Twist or turn that bottom of your work so the CH 3 sides of the previous blocks are facing away from you or towards the left
SL ST into the CH 3 space of the block connected with the CH 3 you just made
You now finished at the corner of your work like how you started and all of the blocks you made have the CH 3 space, so they all match each other.
This is what the Corner To Corner Stitch should look like when completed!
