First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

Crochet ribbing is a great technique for if you need any stretchy area for a project. Example: hats, tops, bags, etc.

Start with 5 CHs to begin your row
Work 1 Quad ST into each ST across while working in the Back Loops only
