Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Textured Double Crochet Chevron Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Textured Double Crochet Chevron Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Increase, tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Decrease, tutorial here! And how to work in the Back Loops, tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make CHs in the multiple of 10 + 4

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

*Valley/Decrease: We are going to make a valley/decrease over the next 3 CHs

Make the bottom of a DC in the next CH

Yarn over, insert your hook into that next CH, grab that yarn and bring it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over, take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

Make the bottom of a DC in the next CH

Yarn over, insert your hook into that next CH, grab that yarn and bring it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over, take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

Make the bottom of a DC in the next CH

Yarn over, insert your hook into that next CH, grab that yarn and bring it through, pulling up 1 loop, yarn over, take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook

You'll have 3

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through all 4 loops on your hook to complete that Valley/Decrease

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Peak/Increase: Make 3 DC into the next CH

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 CH left in your row

Make 1 DC into the last CH of your row

Row 2: Make 3 CHs

This row is going to be similar to the 1st row, but to make it textured we are only going to be working in the Back Loops of each ST

In the back loops: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

*In the back loops: Valley/Decrease over the next 3 STs (same steps as row 1)

In the back loops: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

In the back loops: Peak/Increase: Make 3 DC into the next ST

In the back loops: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 ST left in your row

Make 1 DC into the last ST of your row

Repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project

This is what how the Textured DC Chevron Stitch should look like when completed!
