Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Basic Ripple Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Increase, tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Decrease, tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning make CHs in the multiple of 14 + 2

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 2 DC into the 3rd CH from your hook

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

We're going to DC Decrease over the next 3 CHs, make the bottom of a DC in the next CH

Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the CH, grab the yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, Yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only

Make the bottom of a DC in the next/second CH

Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the CH, grab the yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, Yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only

Make the bottom of a DC in the next/third CH

Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the CH, grab the yarn and pull it through, pulling up 1 loop, Yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through all 4 loops on your hook to complete that Decrease

You'll now use those same Decrease over the next 3 CHs

So we'll have 2 Decreases over a total of 6 CHs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

DC Increase in the next CH: Make 3 DC in the same CH

DC Increase in the next CH: Make 3 DC in the same CH

So that's 2 Increases over a total of 2 CHs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Make 2 Decreases over the next 6 CHs like we did before

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs

Make 3 DC into the last CH of your row

Row 2: Make 3 CHs

Make 2 DC into the 1st ST

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Make 2 Decreases over the next 6 STs, just like we did before. Just working into STs instead of CHs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

DC Increase in the next CH: Make 3 DC in the same ST

DC Increase in the next CH: Make 3 DC in the same ST

So that's 2 Increases over a total of 2 STs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Make 2 Decreases over the next 6 STs, just like we did before. Just working into STs instead of CHs

Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs

Make 3 DC into the top of the previous CHs at the end of your row

Repeat Row 2 for how long you want your project

This is what the Basic Ripple Stitch should look like when completed!
