First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH), tutorial here! And how to make the Extended Single Crochet Stitch (ESC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning make an even number of CHs
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 ESC into the 2nd CH from your hook
Make 1 CH, skip 1 CH
Make 1 ESC into the next CH
*Make 1 CH, skip 1 CH
Make 1 ESC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
Make 1 ESC into the 1st ST
Make 1 ESC into the 1st previous CH 1 open space
*Make 1 CH, skip next previous ESC
Make 1 ESC into next previous CH 1 open space
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
Make 1 ESC into the last ST of your row
Row 3: Make 1 CH
Make 1 ESC into the 1st ST
*Make 1 CH, skip next previous ESC
Make 1 ESC into next previous CH 1 open space
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
Make 1 ESC into the last ST of your row
You would now alternate between rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
