Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Granny Cluster Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Cluster Stitch (CL), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make a even # of chains
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 CH
(Skip to next step if working into CHs)
Make 1 SC into 1st ST
(Work 1 SC into 2nd CH from hook if working into chains)
1 SC into open space between previous STs
(1 SC into next CH if working into CHs)
Make 1 CH
Skip over previous CL, 1 SC between previous STs
(Skip 1 CH, 1 SC in next CH if working into CHs)
Make 1 CH
Skip over previous CL, 1 SC between previous STs
(Skip 1 CH, 1 SC in next CH if working into CHs)
Alternate between these 2 steps until you reach the end of your row
Skip over previous CL, 1 SC between previous STs
(Skip 1 CH, 1 SC in next CH if working into CHs)
1 SC into top of previous CHs
(1 SC into last CH if working into CHs)
Row 2: Make 3 CHs
*Making our 1st CL: Yarn over 1 time
Insert your hook into 1st open space from previous CH, Grab the yarn you're working with and pull up a loop
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Insert your hook into same open space, Grab the yarn you're working with and pull up a loop
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook
(last one, total of 3) Yarn over your hook 1 time
Insert your hook into same open space, Grab the yarn you're working with and pull up a loop
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through 2 loops on your hook
You now have 3 bottoms of DCs, with 4 loops on your hook
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through all 4 loops on your hook (1 CL made)
Repeat these steps from * for each open spaces across your row
1 DC into last ST of row
Alternate between these 2 rows for however long you want your project
This is what the Granny Cluster Stitch should look like when completed!
