Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: The Highway Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Highway Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! How to Crochet in the Front Loops (FLO), tutorial here! How to Crochet in the Back Loops (BLO), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning make any number of CHs

 

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 2nd CH from your hook

Then make 1 HDC into each CH across

Row 2: Make 2 CHs

For row 2 we are making HDCs again, but working only in the Front Loops (Shown Above)

So make 1 HDC into each ST only working into the Front Loop of each ST

Row 3: Make 2 CHs

For row 3 we are making HDCs again, but working only in the Back Loops (Shown Above)

So make 1 HDC into each ST only working into the Back Loop of each ST

Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for how long you want your project

This is what the Highway Stitch should look like when completed!
