Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: The Lace Granny Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Lace Granny Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 8 + 5

 

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 5th CH from your hook

Make 2 CHs

Skip 3 CHs, make 1 SC into the next CH

*Make 2 CHs

Skip 3 CHs, make 3 DC into the next CH

Make 2 CHs

Skip 3 CHs, make 1 SC into the next CH

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 4 CHs left in your row

Skip 3 CHs, make 2 DC into the last CH of your row to complete Row 1

Row 2: Make 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

*Make 2 CHs

Skip to previous SC, make 3 DC into that previous SC

Make 2 CHs

Skip to middle DC of previous 3 made, make 1 SC into that middle DC

Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the last 2 STs of your row

Skip to the last ST of your row, make 1 SC into that last ST to complete Row 2

Row 3: Make 4 CHs

Make 1 DC into the 1st ST

This is where we start repeating the sequence...make 2 CHs

Skip to middle DC of previous 3 made, make 1 SC into that middle DC

*Make 2 CHs

Skip to previous SC, make 3 DC into that previous SC

Make 2 CHs

Skip to middle DC of previous 3 made, make 1 SC into that middle DC

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 2 CHs and 1 ST left in your row

Skip to that last ST of your row, make 2 DC into that last ST to complete Row 3

Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project

This is what the Lace Granny Stitch should look like when completed!
