Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Vintage Chevron Block Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1/Foundation Row: Make 4 CHs

Make 3 DC into the 4th CH from your hook/the CH farthest away from your hook

This is one Foundation Block made

*To make the next block, make 4 CHs

Make 3 DC into the 4th CH from your hook/the CH farthest away from your hook

Another Foundation Block made

You would now make more of these blocks, starting from * above for the width of your blanket. You need to make these blocks in the multiple of 6. I have made 12 for my example swatch.

Row 2: Make 1 CH

We're only going to be working into those previous CH 4 spaces, SL ST into the CH 4 space on this 1st block

CH 3,

Same thing as before, make 3 DC into that same CH 4 space, then SL ST into the next block and make 3 DC into that block

So these 2 blocks are apart of the side of our Chevron

*The Peak: SL ST into the next CH 4 space/block, make 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC into that same CH 4 space

For each of the next 2 side blocks: SL ST, 3 DC into that CH 4 space

The Valley: SL ST into the next block, then SL ST into the next block

So only SL STs, not DCs made for the Valley

So now you'll make 2 side blocks, SL ST + 3 DC into each

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 block left in your row

Simply SL ST into the CH space of the last block to complete Row 2

Row 3: Make 1 CH, SL ST into CH space of 1st block

Make 3 DC into that 1st block, then SL ST into next block, then make 3 DC into that next block

*Peak: SL ST, 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC all in the next block

SL ST, 3 DC into the next 2 blocks

Valley: SL ST into each of the next 2 blocks

So now you'll make 2 side blocks, SL ST + 3 DC into each

Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 block left in your row

Simply SL ST into the CH space of the last block to complete Row 3

Repeat Row 3 for however long you want your project

This is what the Vintage Chevron Block Stitch should look like when completed!
