Free Crochet Pattern: Open Concept Granny Square!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Open Concept Granny Square is so cute and a quick motif to whip up!

There are so many possible projects to make using squares! This motif would look beautiful seamed together for a blanket, sewn together for a purse and stitches together for a scarf!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:

 

Materials:

Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example square

Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example square – 5.5 MM

Scissors

Stitch Markers

 

Notes:

I chained 4 for my Picot Stitches

Chain – CH

Stitch – ST

Pattern:

Pick your favorite way to start a circle, playlist above!

Row 1: Make circle, CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 2 DC into center of circle, CH 2, *3 DC into circle, CH 2, Repeat from * 2 more times, SL ST into first DC stitch made in this row

Row 2: (Start at any middle DC of previous 3) CH 3 (counts as 1 DC), 4 DC in same ST, *SL
ST into next ST, 1 SC in next open space, CH 3, 1 SC in same space, 5 DC in next ST, repeat
from * around, SL ST into first CH 3 made in this row

Row 3: (Start at 3rd ST in previous 5 DC ST Shell) CH 4, 1 DC in same ST, *CH 4, 1 SC in
previous CH 3 space, PI ST on top of SC, CH 4, 1 DC V in same previous 3rd DC of 5 DC ST
Shell, (DC V, CH 3, DC V) in corner space, repeat from * around, SL ST into first CH 4 made
in this row

Row 4: (Start at open space made from previous CH 4 to the right of a previous SC + PI ST),
*(1 SC in open space, 1 HDC in same space, 2 DC in same space, 1 HDC in same space, 1
SC in same space), SL ST behind previous SC + PI, repeat everything in the () for the next
open space, 1 DC in corner space, CH 3, 1 DC in same corner space, repeat from * around,
SL ST into first CH 4 made in this row

Row 5: (Start at top of previous Shell, one of the DC STs), 1 DC V, *1 TR V behind previous
SC + PI, 1 DC V in top of next Shell, (DC V, CH 3 DC V) in corner space, 1 DC V into top of
next previous Shell ST, repeat from * around, SL ST into first DC V made in this row
