Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Cat Stitch!
First, with any project you’ll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you’ll need to know how to make Chains (CH)! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Spike Stitch (DC Spike), tutorial here!
Starting at the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 5
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook
Skip 3 CHs, into next CH: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into same CH
*Skip 3 CHs, into next CH: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into same CH
Repeat the step above from * until you have 5 CHs left of your row
Skip 3 CHs, Make 1 DC into next CH
Make 1 DC into the last CH of your row
Row 2: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into 1st ST
Into previous DCs + CH + DCs space: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into same space
*Skip to next space, into previous DCs + CH + DCs space: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into same space
Repeat the step above from * until you have 2 STs left of your row
1 DC into the last ST of your row
1 DC into tops of previous CHs from last row
Row 3: CH 3
1 DC into 1st ST
Skip 1 ST, into the space between the ST you just skipped and the previous DCs + CH + DCs, make 2 DC spike STs
*Skip to next space, into previous DCs + CH + DCs space: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DC into same space
Into the space between the DCs + CH + DCs you just made and the next previous DCs + CH + DCs, make 2 DC spike STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the last space of your row, the space after the last previous DCs + CH + DCs and the last ST of your row, make 2 DC spike STs
Make 1 DC into last ST of your row
Make 1 DC into tops of previous CHs of last row
Row 4: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into 1st ST
*Skip to previous DCs + CH + DCs space: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DCs into that same space
Repeat the step above from * until you reach the end of your row
Skip 3 STs, Make 1 DC into last ST of your row
Make 1 DC into tops of previous CHs in last row
Row 5: Make 3 CHs
1 DC into 1st ST
*Skip to previous DCs + CH + DCs space: Make 2 DC, CH 1, 2 DCs into that same space
Repeat the step above from * until you reach the end of your row
Skip 2 STs, Make 2 DC into the last ST of your row
Make 1 DC into tops of CHs from last row
Repeat rows 3, 4 & 5 in order for however long you want your project
