Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Granny Spike Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!
The Granny Spike Stitch is made in multiples of 3
If you are starting from the beginning, making chains then working Granny Spikes Stitches into them, you'll make your first row like the regular Granny Stripe Stitch. Tutorial here! So this Granny Spiked Stitch is essentially the Granny Stripe Stitch with 1 extra step.
If you are working into a row that begins with a open space, CH 3. This CH 3 counts as 1 DC
You would then work a long DC into the open space. You will work this DC into the top of the middle DC in the previous granny block below. A granny block is just 3 DC together. So you can see in my above picture, I worked that DC into the top of the middle DC below it.
You would then work 1 DC into that same open space again
CH 1, skipping over the granny block below, to the next open space
You would then work 1 DC into that next open space
Again work that 'long' DC into the top of the middle DC in the granny block below (Shown Above)
Then work 1 DC into that same open space
You would repeat this pattern until the end of the row
If you are working into a row that begins with a granny block underneath, CH 4. This CH 4 counts as 1 DC + 1 CH to skip over that granny block to the next open space
Then you would repeat the pattern as above. The only changes to this pattern is how you start the rows. Work 1 DC into the open space
Again work a 'long' DC into the top of the middle DC in the granny block below (Shown Above)
work 1 DC into that same open space
CH 1 to skip over the next granny block, start repeating this pattern until the end of the row
At the end of the row you will end over a granny block, CH 1
Then work 1 DC into the last ST of the previous row
You would then repeat these 2 rows for any future rows
This is what the Granny Spike Stitch should look like when completed!
