Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Granny Stripe Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here!

Also how to make Double Crochet Stitches (DC), I have a tutorial here!

Notes:

To begin you will make chains in multiples of 3

Any CH 3 you make throughout this stitch/pattern will count as 1 DC

Granny Block = 3 DC

To start the Granny Stripe Stitch:

For my test swatch I made a total of 23 chains.

Row 1: I then worked worked 2 DCs into the 3rd CH from my hook, *skip 2 CHs, work 3 DC into the next CH, repeat from * until you reach the end of your row

Row 2: CH 4, skip the previous Granny Block, *work 3 DC into the next open space, CH 1, repeat from * until you reach the end of your row

Row 3: CH 3, 2 DC into the first open space, CH 1, skip the previous Granny Block, *work 3 DC into the next open space, CH 1, repeat from * until you reach the end of your row

Repeat rows 2 & 3 for this stitch

Starting on the row where you work into a previous open space first, CH 3

Work 1 DC into the open space

Work 1 DC into that open space, This is one full Granny Block because the CH 3 counts as 1 DC

Always CH 1 over any previous Granny Block

You would then work 3 DC into the next open space

Again you would CH 1 between any Granny Blocks and over any previous Granny Blocks

You would repeat this for the rest of the row. Since you started your row with a Granny Block you would end with one too

Starting on the row where you work over a previous Granny Block, CH 4. This CH 4 counts as 1 DC + CH 1. Skip over the previous Granny Block

You would then work 3 DC into the next open space + CH 1 over the next previous Granny Block

You would continue this Granny Block + CH 1 Pattern until the end of the row

Once you get to your last Granny Block of this row you will CH 1 and make 1 DC into the last ST (into the previous Granny Block)

This is what the Granny Stripe Stitch should look like when completed!
