Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example blanket
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a ‘I’ hook for my example blanket – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Single Crochet Stitch (SC):

Pattern:
Make an even number of CHs, I made 140 CHs for my example blanket
Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from your hook, make 1 SC into each CH across
Row 2: CH 3, 1 DC into 1st ST, *SK 1 ST, 2 DC into next ST, repeat from * for the rest of your row
Row 3: CH 4, *SK 2 STs, 2 DC between previous DC STs, repeat from * until you have 1 ST + CHs left in your row, CH 1, Sk 1 ST, 1 DC into the top of the previous turning CHs
Row 4: CH 3, 1 DC into 1st open space, *SK 2 STs, 2 DC between previous DC STs, repeat from * for the rest of your row
Alternate between Rows 3 & 4 for however long you want your project
