First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 3 for how wide you want your blanket
I made 150 chains for my example blanket, which is a throw size
Row 1: (1 SC + 1 DC) into the 3rd CH from your hook
*Skip 2 CHs, (1 SC + 1 DC) into the next CH
Repeat the step above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: CH 1
*Skip 2 STs, (1 SC + 1 DC) into next space between STs
Repeat the step above from * until you have 2 STs + 1 CH left
Skip 2 STs, make 1 SC into that last CH to complete
Row 3: CH 1
Skip 1st ST, (1 SC + 1 DC) into next space between STs
*Skip 2 STs, (1 SC + 1 DC) into next space between STs
Skip 2 STs, 1 SC into the last ST to complete
Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however big you want your project
