Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Scallop Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Cluster Stitch, tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 6 + 2
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook
Then make 1 SC into each CH across
Row 2: Make 1 CH
1 SC into the 1st ST
*Make 2 CHs
Make a 5 DC Cluster over the next 5 STs
Cluster Stitches are made from the bottoms of DC stitches clustered together
So for this stitch we will make the bottoms of 5 DC along these 5 STs
YO your hook, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn, pull through, pulling up 1 loop, YO again, take that yarn through 2 loops only, repeat these steps over the 5 STs
Make 2 CHs
Make 1 SC into the next ST
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 3: Make 1 CH
Make 1 SC into the 1st ST
Then make 2 SC into each previous CH space and 1 SC into each ST across
Row 4: Make 2 CHs
Make a 2 DC Cluster over the 1st 2 STs
So we're going to make the bottom of a DC into each of these 2 STs
YO your hook, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn, pull through, pulling up 1 loop, YO again, take that yarn through 2 loops only, repeat these steps over the 2 STs
*Make 2 CHs
Make 1 SC into the next ST
Make 2 CHs
Make a 5 DC Cluster over the next 5 STs
YO your hook, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn, pull through, pulling up 1 loop, YO again, take that yarn through 2 loops only, repeat these steps over the 5 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 4 STs left in this row
SK 1 ST,
Make a 3 DC Cluster over the last 3 STs
So we're going to make the bottom of a DC into each of these 3 STs
YO your hook, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn, pull through, pulling up 1 loop, YO again, take that yarn through 2 loops only, repeat these steps over the 3 STs
Row 5: Make 1 SC, then make 2 SC into each previous CH space and 1 SC into each ST across
You would now repeat Rows 2, 3, 4 & 5 in order for however long you want your project
This is what the Scallop Stitch should look like when completed!
