Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Mesh Granny Square!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this motif
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here!
There are several ways to start this motif. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here!
I will be using the Chain 4 Method for my tutorial
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make your circle, I made 4 CHs to start my circle
Make 1 CH, then 1 SC into your circle
I made 1 SC into the 4th CH from my hook
*Make 3 CHS
These CHs will be our corner spaces
Make 1 SC into the same circle space
These SC will be the sides of our square
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 4 SC sides and 4 sets of 3 CH corners
SL ST into the 1st CH(s) made in this row to complete
To keep your square straight, flip you square each row
So when we started we were looking at the front of my square
Now for row 2 we are looking at the back
Row 2: (Start at any previous corner space) Make 4 CHs
Make 1 SC into that same corner space
*Make 3 CHs
Skip side SC
Into next corner space make: 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC
Repeat the steps above from * around
SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row to complete
To keep your square straight, flip you square each row
Row 3: (Start at any previous corner space) Make 4 CHs
Make 1 SC into the same corner space
*Make 3 CHs
Skip 1 SC, make 1 SC into next previous CH 3 space
Make 3 CHs
Skip 1 ST/SC,
Into corner space make: 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC
Repeat the steps above from * around
SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row to complete
You would now repeat Row 3 for how big you want your square
As you make your square bigger you will have more CH side space
Each side: CH 3 to skip 1 ST/SC, make 1 SC into each previous CH 3 space
Corners: 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC
This is what my Mesh Granny Square should look like when completed!
