Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make my Star Struck Afghan!

This blanket is a regular granny square with a twist! Granny stripe rows mixed with Granny spike rows! Enjoy!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this blanket

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Spike Stitch (DC SP), tutorial here!

There are several ways to start this blanket. You can use the Magic Ring/Circle/Loop, I have a tutorial here! The Chain 4 method, I have a tutorial here! Or the Slip Stitch Method, I have a tutorial here! I will be using the Chain 4 Method for my tutorial.

Row 1: Make a circle,

I'm using the CH 4 method, so I made 4 CHs

Make 3 CHs (counts as 1 DC), then make 2 DC into that circle space

I made 2 DC into the 4th CH from my hook

*Make 3 CHs, this will be our corner spaces

Make 3 DC into the center circle space

Each 3 DC counts as 1 side of your square

Repeat from * around until you have 4 sides of 3 DC and 4 corners of 3 CHs

SL ST into the 1st CHs/ST you made in this row to complete

Row 2: Flip you square to the Back of your work

Add your new yarn to any corner space with a Slip Knot, tutorial here!

Make 3 CHs

Make 2 DC into the same corner space

Make 3 CHs

Make 3 DC into same corner space

*Make 1 CH to skip the next 3 STs

Into next corner space make: 3 DC, CH 3, 3 DC

Repeat the steps above from * around

SL ST into the 1st CHs you made in this row to complete

Row 3: Flip you square to the Front of your work

Add your new yarn to any corner space with a Slip Knot, tutorial here!

Make 3 CHs, 2 DC, CH 3, 3 DC all into this corner space

*Make 1 CH to skip the next 3 STs

Make 1 DC, 1 DC SP into the middle DC ST 1 row down, then 1 DC into same CH space as the 1st DC you just made

Repeat the steps above from * around

SL ST into the 1st CHs made in this row to complete

You would now repeat Row 2 for two rows, then Row 3 for two rows for how big you want your blanket

This is what your Star Struck Afghan should look like when completed!
