First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 HDC into the 3rd CH from your hook
*Make 1 SC into the next CH
Make 1 HDC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
Row 2: Make 2 CHs
Make 1 HDC into the 1st ST
*Skip 1 ST, make 2 HDC into the next ST
Repeat the step above from * until you only have 2 STs left
Skip 1 ST, make 1 HDC into the next ST to complete this row
Row 3: Make 2 CHs
Make 1 HDC into the 1st ST
*Make 1 SC into the next ST
Make 1 HDC into the next ST
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row
You would now repeat Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Astral Stitch should look like when completed!
