First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! And how to make the Single Crochet Decrease (SC DEC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
We are going to immediately start making the Dense Stitch:
*Insert your hook into the 2nd CH (next CH) from your hook, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through
You'll have 2 loops on your hook
Insert your hook into the next CH, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through
You'll have 3 loops on your hook
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through all 3 loops to complete this stitch
Make 1 CH
You would now repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 CH left in this row
Make 1 SC into that last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
*Insert your hook into the 1st/next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through
You'll have 2 loops on your hook
Insert your hook into the next ST, grab the yarn you're working with and pull it through
You'll have 3 loops on your hook
Yarn over your hook 1 time
Take that yarn through all 3 loops to complete this ST
Make 1 CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 1 ST left in this row
Then make 1 SC into the last ST to complete this row
You would now repeat Row 2 for however long you want your project
This is what the Dense Stitch should look like when completed!
