Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Double Wrap Stitch!

Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Double Wrap Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! And how to make the Front Post Double Crochet Stitch (FPDC), tutorial here!

Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains

 

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook 

 

Then make 1 SC into each CH across

Row 2: CH 2

Make 1 DC into each ST across

Row 3: CH 2

*Double Wrap ST: Yan over 1 time, skip 1st ST

Start making a FPDC over the next ST

Insert your hook around the next ST, grab that yarn, pull the yarn around that ST, pulling up 1 loop, you'll have 3 loops on your hook

Yarn over 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops only

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Insert your hook around the SAME ST, grab that yarn, pull the yarn around that ST, pulling up 1 loop, you'll have 4 loops on your hook

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through 2 loops only (3 loops left)

Yarn over your hook 1 time

Take that yarn through all 3 loops to complete

Make 1 SL ST into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from *

until you reach the last CHs in this row

Make 1 SC into those last CHs to complete this row

 

Alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project

This is what how the Double Wrap Stitch should look like when completed!
