Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Half Shell Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 4 + 6
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook
*CH 3
Make 3 DC into the same CH where you just made the SC
Skip 3 CHs, make 1 SC into the next CH
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 4 CHs left
Skip 4 CHs, make 1 SC into the last CH to complete this row
Row 2: CH 6
*Skip to the next previous CH 3 space, make 1 SC into the top CH of that previous CH 3
CH 3
Repeat the steps above until you run out of CH 3 spaces, to complete this row
Row 3: CH 1
*Make (1 SC, CH 3, 3 DC) all into the next ST
Repeat the step above from * until you only have some CHs left
Make 1 SC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Half Shell Stitch should look like when completed!
