Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this tutorial

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Slip Stitch (SL ST), tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! Be familiar with the Mesh Stitch, tutorial here! And be familiar with the regular JAYG method, tutorial here!

So you'll need 2 crochet squares that you want to join together and yarn to join them

I made regular granny squares for this tutorial:

Video tutorial here and step by step tutorial here!

With either square, start at any previous corner space, make 6 CHs

Make 1 SC into same corner space

*Make 3 CHs, to skip 3 STs

Make 1 SC into next CH space

Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the next corner space

Into the next corner space: 1 SC, CH 3, 1 SC

Repeat all the steps above from * around your square,

until you reach the 1st CHs made in this row

SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this Mesh ST row around the 1st square

With your 2nd square: Start making the Mesh ST row, like we just did on our 1st square, but only from 1 corner to the next (Shown Above)

So I made that CH 6 in the 1st corner, 1 SC into that same corner, CH 3, 1 SC in next space across to the next corner space, then in that space stopped at 1 SC

Now bring in your other square, so we are working with both now and joining them together, line up those squares where the corners and edges are together

SL ST into the lined up corner space of the other square

Then SL ST back into the same corner space you had just made that SC into

*Make 1 CH

SL ST into the next CH space, on the square we are joining INTO

Make 1 CH

SL ST into the next CH space, on the square we were making the Mesh ST on

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this side, until you get to the joining corner spaces

SL ST into both of those last corner spaces to complete this join

So now that we have completed the join, we still have to complete the Mesh ST around our current square

Make 3 CHs

Make 1 SC into that same corner space

Continue along this side making 3 CHs to skip any 3 STs and make 1 SC into any CH space, until you reach the last CHs in this row

SL ST into those 1st CHs to complete this join

This is what the Mesh Stitch Join As You Go Method should look like when completed!
