First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Front Post Double Crochet Stitch (FPDC), tutorial here! How to make the Back Post Double Crochet Stitch (BPDC), tutorial here! and how to make the Triple Crochet Front Post Stitch (FPTR), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in multiples of 5 + 3
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook
Then make 1 DC into each CH across
Row 2: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into each of the 1st 2 STs
Skip 1 ST, Make 1 FPTR into the next ST
Then make 1 FPTR into the skipped ST
*1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Skip 1 ST, Make 1 FPTR into the next ST
Then make 1 FPTR into the skipped ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you reach the end of your row
You'll have 1 DC + some CHs left
Make 1 DC into the ST
Then make 2 DC into the tops of the CHs to complete this row
Row 3: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into each of the 1st 2 STs
*Make 1 BPDC over the next 2 STs
Skip 1 ST, make 3 DC into the next ST
Repeat the steps above from * until you have 2 STs + CHs left
Make 1 DC into each ST + 1 DC into the tops of the CHs to complete this row
Row 4: Make 3 CHs
Make 1 DC into each of the 1st 2 STs
*Skip 1 ST, make 1 FPDC over the next ST
Make 1 FPDC over the skipped ST
Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of your row
This is what the Mini Cable Stitch should look like when completed!
