Photo Tutorial – How To Crochet: Savannah Stitch!

 Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Savannah Stitch!

First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch

For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Half Double Crochet Stitch (HDC), tutorial here! And the Crossed Half Double Crochet Stitch, tutorial here!

 

Starting from the beginning, make an even number of chains

❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈

 

Row 1: Make 1 SC into the 2nd CH from your hook

*CH1, skip 1 CH

Make 1 SC into the next CH

Repeat the steps above from * for the rest of this row

Row 2: Make 2 CHs, these CHs count as 1 HDC, so you can skip the 1st ST

*Make 1 HDC into the next ST

Make 1 HDC around the HDC you just made, into the space to the right

CH 1, skip 1 ST

Repeat the steps above from & until you only have 1 ST left

Make 1 HDC into that last ST to complete this row

Row 3: CH 1

Make 1 SC into the 1st ST

*CH 1, skip 1 ST

Make 1 SC into the next ST

Repeat the steps above from * until you only have some CHs left

Make 1 SC into the top of those last CHs to complete this row

 

 

You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project

This is what the Savannah Stitch Stitch should look like when completed!
