Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a written tutorial with photos on how to make the Striped Chevron Stitch!
First, with any project you'll need a crochet hook and yarn. Any yarn or hook will do for learning this stitch.
For this tutorial you'll need to know how to make Chains (CH), I have a tutorial here! How to make the Single Crochet Stitch (SC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Stitch (DC), tutorial here! How to make the Double Crochet Increase (DC INC), tutorial here! And how to make the Double Crochet Decrease (DC DEC), tutorial here!
Starting from the beginning, make chains in the multiple of 10 + 4
❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈ ❈
Row 1: Make 1 DC into the 4th CH from your hook
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs
*Valley/Decrease:
DC DEC over the next 3 CHs
Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next CH, grab that yarn and pull it through that CH, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next CH, grab that yarn and pull it through that CH, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next CH, grab that yarn and pull it through that CH, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, then yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through all the loops on your hook to complete this DEC
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs
Peak/Increase: Make 3 DC into the next CH together
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 CHs
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 CH left
Make 1 DC into that last CH to complete this row
Row 2: Make 1 CH
Then make 1 SC into each ST across to complete this row
Row 3: Make 2 CHs,
These CHs count as 1 DC, so skip the 1st ST
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
*Valley/Decrease:
DC DEC over the next 3 STs
Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, Yarn over 1 time, insert your hook into the next ST, grab that yarn and pull it through that ST, yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through 2 loops only, then yarn over 1 time, take that yarn through all the loops on your hook to complete this DEC
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Peak/Increase: Make 3 DC into the next ST together
Side: Make 1 DC into each of the next 3 STs
Repeat the steps above from * until you only have 1 ST left
Make 2 DC into that last ST to complete this row
You would now alternate between Rows 2 & 3 for however long you want your project
This is what the Striped Chevron Stitch should look like when completed!
