Thanks for visiting my page! Here is a new free pattern from me! My Gridlock Square Pattern is so fast to make!
Easy to make in any size and uses basic crochet stitches!

Here is the free pattern/tutorial:
Materials:
Yarn – Any yarn will work – I used Medium/DK weight for my example square
Crochet hook – Any hook will work – I used a I hook for my example square – 5.5 MM
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Notes:
I Fasten Off each row to change colors:

To keep your square straight, flip your work every row
Crochet Stitches Needed:
Chain – CH
Stitch – ST
Skip – SK
Slip Stitch (SL ST):

Single Crochet Stitch (SC):

Pattern:
Pick your favorite way to start a circle or square: Magic Circle/Ring/Loop, Chain 4 method, Slip Stitch method
Row 1: Make circle, 1 SC into the circle, *CH 2, 1 SC into the circle, CH 2, 1 SC into the circle, CH 2, 1 SC into the circle, CH 2, SL ST into the first SC you made in this row to complete
Row 2: CH 1, 1 SC into the CH 2 to the left of the CH 1 you just made, *CH 2, 1 SC into same corner space as SC just made, CH 1, SK 1 SC, 1 SC into next corner space, repeat from * around, SL ST into the first CH 1 you made in this row to complete
Row 3: CH 1, 1 SC into the CH 2 to the left of the CH 1 you just made, CH 2, 1 SC into same corner space as SC just made, *CH 1, SK 1 SC, 1 SC into next open space from previous CH 1 space, repeat from * for the rest of your side, then when you reach a corner work: 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC all in the corner space
So at this point:
On any side you will work 1 SC into any previous CH 1 space, CH 1, SK 1
In any corner space you will work 1 SC, CH 2, 1 SC
Repeat row 3 for a bigger square
